“Bringing the game out of the kid”
Practices will be fun and focus on a player’s individual ball skills will be the most important factor. Age appropriate activities that challenges the athlete to make quick decisions under pressure and stimulates independant and creative thinking will be included in the camp curriculum. Players will experience soccer in a spontaneous and free sprited manner by being provoked to develop creativity through trial and error.
Socrates the Greek philosopher stated that the student should be provoked, they should be questioned to come up with solutions. The coach's primary responsibility will be to help players to become passionate players. Players should want to practice on their own, watch games and imitate the pros. The ideal environment is where players are free to experiment and express themselves. With the assistance of good coaching, SCOR's soccer camps will give players the opportunity to develop their passion for the greatest game on earth!
We all know the percentage of youth players who actually get college scholarships and become professional players. We need to make the sport a life long activity for physical and mental well being. The coach's most difficult part in coaching, in my opinion, is creating a training environment that allows for learning, is challenging, and fun. At the initial younger ages fun and skill development is paramount and body coordination and balance is just as important. It is well known that too many players begin to loose interest and stop participating in soccer after high school and college.
SCOR's philosophy includes focusing on the physical, technical and the psychological elements of player development with the hope of creating a long lasting interest in soccer. SCOR's summer camp programs will help create, nurture and develop a long-term relationship. If you are looking for a program that focuses on the development of the individual, encourages players to take risks and step out of their comfort zone at the risk of giving up the ball and losing the game...then we are what you are looking for.
Remember, in youth soccer the individual win is worth more than the team win because there is no reward without risk and many mistakes have to be made along the road to success. SCOR's seasonal programs, including summer camps have the intent to develop an excited and creative player. SCOR's programs give every player, no matter what level, the opportunity to have fun and develop so that they can become the best they can be. I hope you choose to entrust your child to SCOR's sponsored camps this summer. I look forward to seeing you on the fields.
